Tram line 86 in Melbourne
Tram line 86 runs between the RMIT University campus in Bundoora and Waterfront City in Docklands.
The line is one of the longest routes on Melbourne’s tram network. It connects RMIT University and La Trobe University with Reservoir, Preston, Thornbury, Northcote, Clifton Hill, Fitzroy, Collingwood, central Melbourne and Docklands.
From RMIT University in Bundoora, Line 86 follows Plenty Road southwards through Bundoora, Kingsbury, Reservoir and Preston, serving La Trobe University along the way.
The route continues along High Street through Thornbury and Northcote before following Queens Parade through Clifton Hill. It then travels along Smith Street between Collingwood and Fitzroy before turning onto Gertrude Street and passing the Royal Exhibition Building and Melbourne Museum.
Line 86 enters central Melbourne near Parliament House and follows Bourke Street through the city, serving Bourke Street Mall and Southern Cross Station. It then continues into Docklands via La Trobe Street and Harbour Esplanade before following Docklands Drive to its terminus at Waterfront City.
