Tram line 9 in Zürich
Tram line 9 in Zürich runs between Hirzenbach on the eastern edge of the city and Heuried in the west, travelling via Schwamendingen, Milchbuck, ETH/Universitätsspital, Bellevue, Paradeplatz and Stauffacher.
Note: During peak periods, line 9 continues beyond Heuried through Schaufelbergerstrasse to Triemli.
Starting at Hirzenbach, where the terminus loop surrounds a group of allotments, line 9 initially runs towards Altried before continuing through Luchswiesen, Luegisland and Heerenwiesen to Schwamendingerplatz. From there, the line enters the Schwamendingen tram tunnel, using the infrastructure originally built for Zürich's abandoned U-Bahn project, before returning above ground at Milchbuck. Line 9 then runs alongside Irchelpark to Universität Irchel and continues via Langmauerstrasse, Letzistrasse and Kinkelstrasse to Seilbahn Rigiblick, where there is an interchange with the Rigiblick funicular.
From Seilbahn Rigiblick, line 9 continues via Winkelriedstrasse and Haldenbach to ETH/Universitätsspital, then follows Rämistrasse through Kantonsschule and Kunsthaus to Bellevue. The line crosses Quaibrücke to Bürkliplatz and continues via Kantonalbank and Paradeplatz before running through Sihlstrasse to Stauffacher. From there, the route continues through Werd, Bahnhof Wiedikon and Schmiede Wiedikon, then follows Birmensdorferstrasse through Goldbrunnenplatz and Talwiesenstrasse to Heuried. During peak periods, services continue through Schaufelbergerstrasse to Triemli.
