Tram line 12 in Melbourne
Tram line 12 runs between Victoria Gardens in Richmond and Fitzroy St/Park St in St Kilda, serving 39 stops.
The line connects Victoria Gardens, North Richmond railway station, St Vincents Plaza, Parliament, central Melbourne, Southern Cross railway station, the riverside entertainment precinct, South Melbourne, the Melbourne Sports and Aquatic Centre, Middle Park and St Kilda.
The present Line 12 was introduced on 27 July 2014 as part of a reorganisation of Melbourne’s tram services, replacing sections previously served by Lines 24 and 112.
From Victoria Gardens, Line 12 travels west along Victoria Street through Richmond and Abbotsford, passing North Richmond railway station before continuing along Victoria Parade. It serves the central reservation stops through Collingwood and East Melbourne before reaching St Vincents Plaza.
The route then follows Gisborne Street and Macarthur Street to Parliament railway station before turning into Collins Street. It crosses central Melbourne via the Town Hall and Elizabeth Street, passes Southern Cross railway station and turns south into Spencer Street. After serving Batman Park, it crosses the River Yarra and continues along Clarendon Street through Southbank and South Melbourne.
South of Park Street, Line 12 follows Clarendon Street to Albert Road, then runs through Albert Park via Canterbury Road and Mills Street. At Danks Street, passenger services turn away from Mills Street beside the short Albert Park Siding. The route continues through Middle Park along Danks Street and Patterson Street before joining Park Street and running through St Kilda West to its terminus at Fitzroy Street.
