Line T1, known as Leonardo, connects Villa Costanza in Scandicci with Careggi University Hospital in northern Florence. It serves the Cascine park, Santa Maria Novella railway station, Fortezza da Basso and the Statuto district.
The original route between Villa Costanza and Santa Maria Novella opened on 14 February 2010. The extension to Careggi opened on 16 July 2018. The two directions use different streets between Leopoldo and Morgagni - Università: trams towards Careggi call at Poggetto and Vittorio Emanuele II, while trams towards Villa Costanza call at Dalmazia and Pisacane instead.

From Villa Costanza, trams cross Scandicci before entering Florence along Viale Pietro Nenni. They continue through Talenti, Batoni and Sansovino, then cross the Arno to reach the Cascine.
The route passes Porta al Prato and serves Santa Maria Novella station at Alamanni and Valfonda. It then runs beside Fortezza da Basso and continues through Statuto to Leopoldo.
Towards Careggi, trams travel through Poggetto and along Via Vittorio Emanuele II before joining Viale Morgagni. They serve the university buildings and terminate outside Careggi University Hospital. In the opposite direction, trams run from Viale Morgagni through Piazza Dalmazia and Via Carlo Pisacane before rejoining the route at Leopoldo.

Villa Costanza is the western terminus of the line and is located on Via della Costituzione, next to the Villa Costanza park and ride.

Nenni Torregalli is a tram stop next to the Ponte a Greve shopping centre. “Torregalli” refers to the nearby San Giovanni di Dio hospital, whose familiar name comes from the historic Castello di Torre Galli beside it.
