About Mostaganem

Mostaganem (مستغانم in Arabic) is a port city located in the northwest of Algeria and is the capital of Mostaganem province. The city was founded in the 11th century as Murustage but has origins going back to Punic and Roman times.

In addition to the 2 tram lines that, Mostaganem has an extensive bus service. The city also has an airport, Mostaganem Airport, although it has no commercial air service, and is sparsely used by general aviation. There is also a railway station, giving access to other cities in the region.

Mostaganem's current tram system

Mostaganem's modern day tramway is operated by SETRAM, which operates all of the tram systems in Algeria and also maintains them. The network has two lines, which run between La Salamandre ↔ Karouba, and Gare de Mostaganem ↔ Nouvelle Gare Routière. The line opened in 2023.
