Tram line 1 in Melbourne
Line 1 of the Melbourne tram system runs between Bell Street & Nicholson Street to the north of the city and Beaconsfield Parade & Victoria Avenue, which is located on the coast. The entire journey takes about 55 minutes and there are trains every 7 or 8 minutes during peak hours on weekdays, every 10 minutes on Saturdays and every 12 - 20 minutes on Sundays.
From the terminus at Bell Street & Nicholson Street, the line runs south along Nicholson Street, passing Merribell Avenue & Nicholson Street, Harding Street & Nicholson Street, Crozier Street & Nicholson Street, Rennie Street & Nicholson Street and The Avenue & Nicholson Street, until it reaches Moreland Road & Nicholson Street. From Moreland Road & Nicholson Street, the line joins Holmes Street and continues south, passing Mitchell Street & Holmes Street and Albion Street & Holmes Street.
After leaving the Albion Street & Holmes Street stop, the line joins Lygon Street and continues south, passing Stewart Street & Lygon Street, Blyth Street & Lygon Street, Victoria Street & Lygon Street, Albert Street & Lygon Street, Glenlyon Road & Lygon Street, Weston Street & Lygon Street, Brunswick Rd & Lygon Street, Park Street & Lygon Street, Pigdon Street & Lygon Street, Richardson Street & Lygon Street, Fenwick Street & Lygon Street, Melbourne Cemetery, Princes Street & Lygon Street and Lytton Street & Lygon Street, until it reaches the junction with Elgin Street, where it turns right onto Elgin Street and stops at Lygon Street & Elgin Street.
After leaving Lygon Street & Elgin Street, the line runs west along Elgin Street, until it reaches the junction with Swanston Street, where it turns left and continues south along Swanston Street, stopping at Melbourne University, Lincoln Square, Queensberry Street & Swanston Street, RMIT University, Melbourne Central Station, Bourke Street Mall, Collins Street & Swanston Street and Flinders Street Station.
After leaving Flinders Street Station, the line contines south, crossing the Yarra River on Princess Bridge and joining St Kilda Road to stop at Arts Precinct. After leaving Arts Precinct, the line continues south, until it reaches the junction with Southbank Boulevard, which it turns right onto. Running along Southbank Boulevard, the line passes Sturt Street & Southbank Boulevard and turns left onto Sturt Street.
Running south down Sturt Street, the line passes Grant Street & Sturt Street, Miles Street & Sturt Street and Kings Way & Sturt Street, until it reaches the junction with Dorcas Street, where it continues onto Eastern Road, passing Dorcas Street & Eastern Road and then following the road as it becomes Heather Street. The line runs down Heather Street, until it reaches the junction with Park Street, where it turns right and runs west along Park Street, stopping at Moray Street & Park Street, Clarendon Street & Park Street, Cecil Street & Park Street, Ferrars Street & Park Street and Montague Street & Park Street.
After leaving Montague Street & Park Street, the line turns left to run south down Montague Street, calling at Bridport Street & Montague Street and then turning right onto Bridport Street and passing Merton Street & Dundas Place, before turning left onto Victoria Avenue and running southwest, passing Richardson Street & Victoria Avenue and Graham Street & Victoria Avenue, before continuing to the terminus stop at Beaconsfield Parade & Victoria Avenue.
