Tram systems in Canada
Canada is located in the northern part of North America and extends from the Atlantic to the Pacific and northward into the Arctic Ocean. Canada is the 2nd largest country in the world, with an area of 9,984,670km2 and the 38th most populous, with a population of 37,314,442 (2019 (estimate)). Canada consists of ten provinces and three territories and its capital is Ottawa.
Canada has a history of streetcars (as trams are called in North America), that stretches back to the late 19th century and includes a mixture of horsedrawn, steam and electrc trams as well as 2 systems that were gasoline driven. Canada currently has 4 cities with streetcar systems, which are Calgary, Edmonton, Ottawa and Toronto.
