Tram line 6 in Zürich

About Line 6

On weekways and Saturdays, tram line 6 runs between the terminus stops of Bahnhof Enge, and Zoo, which sits atop the Zürichberg, to the east of the city. On Sundays the line starts at Bahnhofstrasse / HB and on the return journey terminates at Bahnhofplatz / HB. The entire journey takes about 25 minutes and on week days and Saturday, there is a tram every 7 or 8 minutes during peak times, rising to every 10 every minutes on Sunday.

Route of Zürich line 6

Starting at Farbhof, the line runs along Badenerstrasse, towards the centre of the city, passing Stadion Letzigrund and Albisriderplatz, before crossing the River Sihl just after the stop at Stauffacher and travelling down Talacker to the major tram interchange at Paradeplatz. From Paradeplatz, the line turns right and proceeds down the lower part of Bahnhofstrasse towards the lake and the interchange with the lake boat services at Bürkliplatz. From Bürkliplatz, the line crosses the River Limmat to the interchange at Bellevue and then runs along the side of Sechseläutenplatz, before travelling down Seefeldstrasse, past a number of smaller stops to its final destination at Bahnhof Tiefenbrunnen.

Bahnhof Enge

Bahnhof Enge serves tram lines 5, 6 and 7 as well as night N15. The stop is located in front of the semi-circular main entrance to the station building and has a turning circle close by that encircles an area with seating and fountains.

Rennweg

Rennweg is an intermediate stop on tram lines 6, 7, 11, 13 and 17. The stop is named after the nearby street of the same name that runs from Bahnhofstrasse up to the Lindenhof, and is one of oldest streets in the old town of Zürich.

Note: Rennweg is only served by tram line 6 on week days and Saturdays.

Bahnhofstrasse / HB

Bahnhofstrasse / HB is one of a number of stops that surround Zurich's main station (Hauptbahnhof or HB) and is situated at the top of Bahnhofstrasse. The stop serves tram lines 6, 7, 11, 13 and 17, as well as night bus lines N1, N6 and N13.

Known as Leonhardplatz until the 1950, Cental is a major public transport interchange, with tram lines 3, 4, 6, 7, 10 and 15 all stopping here, as well as bus lines 31 and 45 and night buses N2, N4, N5, N6, N7, N8 and N78. On one side of the interchange, you can also find the Polybahn funicular railway that runs up to the buldings of ETH Zurich.
