Tram line 17 in Zürich
For the majority of weekdays and at weekends, tram line 17 in Zürich runs between the terminus stops of Werdhölzli in the northwest of the city and Bahnhofplatz / HB in the center of the city, but for 2 hours every weekday morning and evening, the line travels down Bahnhofstrasse and on to Albisgütli at the southern edge of the city. The shortened journey takes about 21 minutes and the full route to Albisgütli about 39 minutes and there is a tram every 7 or 8 minutes during the week and on Saturdays, rising to every 10 minutes on Sundays.
From the terminus at Werdhölzli, tram line 17 travels down Bändliweg towards the city, until it turns left and runs along side, until it reaches Tüffenwies, where the line turns right and runs alongside Hardhof, with its single family homes and abundant sports facilities, until it reaches Hardturm. From Hardturm, the line runs along Hardturmstrasse towards the city, passing intermediate stops, until it crosses Escher-Wyss-Platz and follows Limmatstrasse towards the city, passing Limmatplatz, until it reaches Sihlquai / HB, from where it runs around the eastern end of Zürich Hauptbahnhof, following Museumstrasse, Bahnhofquai and on to Bahnhofplatz, from where it either goes to its terminus stop at Bahnhofplatz / HB or turns left onto Bahnhofstrasse to Bahnhofstrasse / HB.
During the extended route, the line travels from Bahnhofstrasse / HB, the line travels down Bahnhofstrasse until it turns right on to Paradeplatz, from where it follows Bleicherweg until it arrives at Bahnhof Enge / Bederstrasse. From Bahnhof Enge / Bederstrasse, the line runs along Bederstrasse, past Sihlcity Nord, before joining Giesshübelstrasse and turning right at Saalsportehalle and climing to Laubegg. After Laubegg, the line turns left on to Uetlibergstrasse, passing Uetlihof, site of the large Credit Suisse offices and the reason for its extended running during the morning and evening rush hours, before arriving at the terminus stop of Albisgütli, which is situated at the edge of the forest that covers the flank of Uetliberg.

Werdhölzli is the terminus of tram line 17 and also serves bus line 307. The stop is more of a siding than a transit stop, with no facilities.
Bändliweg is an intermediate stop on tram line 17 and also serves bus lines 78 and 307.
Grünaustrasse is an intermediate stop on tram line 17 and also serves bus line 78 and night bus N13.
Tüffenwies is an intermediate stop on tram line 17 and also serves bus lines 80, 89, 304 and 485. The tram stop is located underneath the Europabrücke and the bus stop is on the bridge.
Hardhof is an intermediate stop on tram line 17. The stop is in an area of single family homes and also surrounded by various sports facilities.
Hardturm is the terminus stop for tram line 8 and also serves tram line 17 and night bus N13. The stop is named after the nearby medieval bulding, which formed part of the outermost city fortifications.
Bernoulli-Häuser is an intermediate stop on tram lines 8 and 17 and also serves night bus N13. The stop is named after a group of 98 brightly-coloured terraced houses built by Swiss architect Hans Benno Bernoulli.

Rennweg is an intermediate stop on tram lines 6, 7, 11, 13 and 17. The stop is named after the nearby street of the same name that runs from Bahnhofstrasse up to the Lindenhof, and is one of oldest streets in the old town of Zürich.

Laubegg is the terminus stop for line 5 and also serves tram lines 13 and 17 as well as bus 89 and night bus N5. The turning loop for line 5 is a distance away from the stop and it located where the stop was originally, before it was moved closer to the Brunaupark shopping complex.

Uetlihof is an intermediate stop on tram lines 13 and 17 and also serves bus line 89 and night bus N5. This rather unassuming stop is located next to the Credit Suisse offices of the same name, where up to 8,000 staff work, meaning that during rush hours, the line is extremely busy.

Strassenverkehrsamt is an intermediate stop on tram lines 13 and 17 and also serves bus lines 32 and 89 and night bus N5. The stop is named after the buildings of the cantonal road traffic department (Strassenverkehrsamt), which are located nearby

Albisgütli is the terminus of tram lines 13 and 17. The stop is located at the edge of the forest that runs down the Uetliberg and has a long turning circle planted with young trees.

Bahnhofplatz/HB is situated in the square outside of Zurich Hauptbahnhof (HB) and is an interchange for tram lines 3, 6, 10, 14 and 17, bus line 31 and night buses N2 and N8.
