Tram line 12 in Zürich

About Line 12

Tram line 12 in Zürich runs between the terminus stops of Zürich Flughafen, Fracht and Auzelg, Bahnhof Stettbach. The line is the only one on the Zürich system that doesn't go into the center of the city and operates as a light railway rather than a traditional tram. The entire journey takes about 27 minutes and there is a tram every 15 minutes each day of the week from 06:00 to 23:30.

Route of Zürich line 12

Starting from the terminus stop Zürich Flughafen, Fracht, the line first travels the short distance to the main airport stop, before climbing the short elevated section for the stop at Kloten Balsberg, Bahnhof, before descending again to stop at Glattbrugg, Unterriet and the intermediate stops to Glattbrugg, Bahnhof. After leaving Glattbrugg, Bahnhof, the line goes through a tunnel, which emerges at Glattbrugg, Lindberghplatz. After leaving Glattbrugg, Lindberghplatz, the line travels the short distance to Glattpark, where it turns left and runs alongside Glattparkstrasse, past the TV studios at Fernsehstudio and the stop at Auzelg.

From Auzelg, the line roughly follows Austrasse and then Weststrasse, past Wallisellen, Herti, before turning right and then left to run alongside the main railway line, past the stops at Wallisellen, Belair and Wallisellen, Bahnhof, before climbing on to another elevated section that turns right and crosses first the mainline rail tracks and then the various roads that run alongside it, before descending again to street level and running alongside Neugutstrasse, before crossing Überlandstrasse and the river Glatt, to follow Ringstrasse and then Zürichstrasse, past Dübendorf, Ringwiesen, to the terminus stop at Bahnhof Stettbach.
