Tram line M1 in Lausanne

About Line M1

Tram line M1 in Lausanne is a light rail lien that runs from Lausanne-Flon in the center of the city to Renens-Gare in the west of the city. The entire journey takes about 19 minutes and trams run every 10 minutes. Of the lines 15 stops, three of them are underground.

Route of Lausanne line M1

The terminus stop at Lausanne-Flon is one of the underground stops, from here, the line runs west below ground past Viege, before emerging to the surface just after passing underneath Pont Chauderon. The line runs at surface level alongside Avenue de Sévlein and then on to Montelly. From Montelly, the line continues westbound alongside Avenue de Provence until it again goes underground to stop at Malley. From Malley, the line again surfaces, and continues alongside Avenue de Provence and Avenue du Chablais, past Bourdonnette, before crossing the Autoroute Lausanne-Genève and turning to run north west alognside Route de la Chamberonne to UNIL-Chamberonne.

From UNIL-Chamberonne, the line turns west again and runs alongside Route de la Sorge to UNIL-Mouline and then continuing in a more southwesterly direction to UNIL-Sorge and then west again to EPFL. From EPFL, the line turns right to run north alongside Avenue du Tir-Fédéral, past Bassenges, Cerisaie, Crouchy and Epenex, before turning right for the final run to the terminus stop at Renens.
