Tram line 6 in Bern
Tram line 6 in Bern is an interurban light rail service that runs from Fischermätteli in the west of Bern to the town of Worb, which is east of Bern. The entire journey takes about 39 minutes and there is a tram every 10 minutes on weekdays and Saturdays and every 15 minutes on Sundays.
From the terminus stop of Fischermätteli, the tram follows Weissensteinstrasse towards the city, until it turns left on to Pestalozzistrasse, which it follows past the stops of Pestalozzi and Cäcilienstrasse, an on to Brunnmattstrasse, until it reaches Effingerstrasse, where the line turns right and stops at Kaufmännischer Verband, which is only served by trams heading towards Worf. After Kaufmännischer Verband, the line continues along Effingerstrasse until it reaches Hirschengraben, where it turns left, to travel up Hirschengraben. After leaving Hirschengraben, the line turns right on to Bubenbergplatz and to Bern Bahnhof.
After leaving Bern Bahnhof, the line enters Bern's old town and travels down Spitgasse, past Pfeiferbrunnen and Käfigturm, where the ling goes through a tunnel under the tower and continues down Marktgasse, until it reaches Zytglogge, where the line turns right, through Theaterplatz and Casinoplatz and crosses the river Aare over Kirchenfeldbrücke to Helvetiaplatz. From Helvetiaplatz, the line travels down Thunstrasse, past the stop at Luisenstrasse, which is only served by the return journey, to Thunplatz. From Thunplatz, the line continues along Thunstrasse, past Brunnadernstrasse, before turning right on to Muristrasse, which it follows past Egghölzli and on to Thunstrasse, until it reaches Muri bei Bern.
From Muri bei Bern, the line changes from street running to become a light railway that runs on tracks seperated from the roads. Initially, the line runs along side Thorackerstrasse and Seidenberggässchen, past the stops of Gümligen, Seidenberg and Gümligen, Melchenbühl and crossing Worbstrasse. After crossing Worbstrasse, the line runs alongside Dorfstrasse, before turning right to Gümligen, Bahnhof. From Gümligen, Bahnhof, the line runs alongside Bahnhofstrasse and then Worbstrasse, past intermediate stops, until Langenloh, after which, the line veers away from the road and runs across country, until it crosses Bernstrasse and continues to its terminus at Worb Dorf.
