Tram line 8 in Basel
Tram line 8 in Basel runs from Neuweilerstrasse in the south east of Basel to Weil am Rhein Bahnhof, across the border in Germany and is operated by Basler Verkehrs-Betriebe (BVB). The entire journey takes about 36 minutes and there is a tram every 7 or 8 minutes on weekdays and Saturdays and every 10 minutes on Sundays.
From the terminus stop of Neuweilerstrasse, the line travels along Neuweilerstrasse towards the city, until it reached Neubad. From Neubad, the line travels along Neubadstrasse until it reaches Bundesplatz, from where it runs along Bundesstrasse, beside Schützenmatt Park, until it reaches Schützenhaus. From Schützenhaus, the line turns right on to Steinenring, past Zoo Bachletten and then over the viaduct on Viadukstrasse to Markthalle. From Markthalle, the line travels along Centralbahnstrasse to stop at Bahnhoff SBB.
From Bahnhoff SBB, the line travels down Aeschengraben to Aeschenplatz, where it turns left on to Aeschenvorstadt to Bankverein. From Bankverein, the line travels along Steinenberg to Barfüsserplatz and then down Falknerstrasse and Gerberggasse to Marktplatz. From Marktplatz, the line travels along Marktgasse to Schifflände and then across the Rhine on Mittlere Brücke to Rheingasse. From Rheingasse, the line continues along Greffengasse to Claraplatz, where it turns left on to Untere Rebgasse and then on to Klybeckstrasse to Kaserne. From Kaserne, the line continues along Klybeckstrasse, passing a number of stops, including Dreirosenbrücke, until it arrives at Ciba.
From Ciba, the line the line travels along Gärtnerstrasse, crossing the Weise at Kleinhüningen and joining Kleinhüningeranlange and then travelling along Hiltalingerstrasse, and crossing the border at Weil am Rhein Grenze, which trams only stop at on the return journey. The line continues to Dreiländerbrücke and then turns right on to Hauptstraße, past Riedlistraße / Kesselhaus and continues along Hauptstraße until it reaches the terminus at Weil am Rhein, Bahnhof.
