Tram line 3 in Basel

Tram line 3 in Basel runs from Birsfelden Hard in Kanton Basel-Landschaft across the city to Gare de Saint-Louis in France and is operated by Basler Verkehrs-Betriebe (BVB). The entire journey takes about 32 minutes and there is a tram every 7 or 8 minutes on weekdays and Saturdays and every 10 minutes on Sundays.

From the terminus stop of Birsfelden Hard, the line runs along Rheinfelderstrasse and then Hauptstrasse towards the city, passing the stops of Salinenstrasse, Schulstrasse and Bären, until it crosses the river Birs and joins Zürcherstrasse at Breite. From Breite, the line continues along Zürcherstrasse, until becomes St. Alban-Anlage, passing the stops of St. Alban-Tor and Hardstrasse to Aeschenplatz. At Aeschenplatz, the line turns right onto Aeschenvorstadt and continues to Bankverein, from where it joins Steinenberg and stops at Barfüsserplatz, before running along Kohlenberg and joining Leonhardsgraben at Musik-Akademie.

From Musik-Akademie, the line continues along Leonhardsgraben until it joins Spalenvorstadt at Universität and heads towards Spalentor, which it passes and joins Missionsstrasse. Running along Missionsstrasse, the line passes Pilgerstrasse and continues to Burgfelderplatz, from where it joins Burgfelderstrasse. Running along Burgfelderstrasse, the line passes Strassburgerallee, Im Westfeld and the Felix Platter-Spital hospital and its namesake stop. From Felix Platter-Spital, the line continues along Burgfelderstrasse to Burgfelderhof.

After leaving Burgfelderhof, the line turns right and runs along Friedrich Miescher-Strasse, until it turns left and crosses the border into France and joins Cité Ruhlmann and then Rue Saint-Exupéry to the stop at Saint-Exupéry. From Saint-Exupéry, the line turns right and runs alongside Ru du Dr Marcel Hurst and then turns left to run alongside Rue Jean Mermoz, until it arrives at Place Mermoz. From Place Mermoz, the line turns right on to Avenue Général de Gaulle to Soleil, where it turns left to run alongside Boulevard de l'Europe, until just after the buildings of the Centre Technique Municipal de Saint-Louis, where it turns right and heads towards Rue du Ballon, where it turns left and runs to the terminus stop of Gare de Saint-Louis.
