Tram line 15 in Basel

Tram line 15 in Basel runs between Bruderholz in the south of the city and Messeplatz in the center of the city. The line is operated by Basler Verkehrs-Betriebe (BVB). The journey covers slightly different routes depending on the direction of travel, as there is no turning loop at Messeplatz, so rather than reversing, the line continues from Messeplatz back to Bankverein on a different route, before returning to Bruderholz by the same route as the outward journey. The journey from Bruderholz takes about 18 minutes and the reverse journey about 23 minutes. There is a tram every 7 or 8 minutes on weekdays and Saturdays and every 10 minutes on Sunday. Line 15 shares trams with Line 16 and they change numbers at Bruderholz.

From the terminus stop at Bruderholz, the line runs westbound, alongside Bruderholzallee, past Airolostrasse to Studio Basel, from where the line turns northbound, still running alongside Bruderholzallee to Lerchenstrasse. From Lerchenstrasse, the line turns right, initially running alongside Rehhagstrasse, but soon turning off into woods and heading northbound once again, past Wolfschlucht, before emerging from the trees to run alongside and eventually on Bruderholzweg and Bruderholzstrasse to Tellplatz. From Tellplatz, the line turns right, running along Güterstrasse to Heiliggeistkirche, from where it turns left onto Thiersteinallee, crossing the railway tracks and joining Münchensteinerstrasse to Grosspeterstrasse.

From Grosspeterstrasse, the line leaves the road and runs alongside it again, until it reaches Denkmal. From Denkmal, the line runs along St. Jakobs-Strasse to Aeschenplatz and then along Aeschenvortstadt to Bankverein. From Bankverein, the line turns right to run along St. Alban-Graben, past Kunstmuseum and crosses the Rhine on Wettsteinbrücke, to join Wettsteinstrasse. The line runs along Wettsteinstrasse to Wettsteinplatz, before turning left onto Hammerstrasse and then right on to Riehenstrasse and left onto Riehenring to the terminus stop of Messeplatz.

The return journey from Messeplatz to Bruderholz starts with the line turning left onto Clarrastrasse to Claraplatz, before joining Greifengasse and crossing the Rhine on Mittlere Brücke to Schifflände. From Schifflände, the line runs down Marktgasse, past Marktplatz, onto Gerbergasse and Falknerstrasse until it reaches Barfüsserplatz. From Barfüsserplatz, the line runs along Steinenberg to Bankverein, from where it continues its journey to Bruderholz on the same line as the outward journey.
