Tram line 14 in Basel
Tram line 14 in Basel runs from Dreirosenbrücke in the center of the city to Schlossstrasse in Pratteln, south east of the city. The line is operated by Basler Verkehrs-Betriebe (BVB). The entire journey takes about 38 minutes and there is a tram every 7 or 8 minutes on weekdays and Saturdays and every 10 minutes on Sunday.
From the terminus at Dreirosenbrücke, the line runs east along Horburgstrasse to the Brombacherstrasse stop, from where it joins Brombacherstrasse and runs south east, before turning right to run south down Riehenring to Musical Theater, Riehenring and Messeplatz. From Messeplatz, the line turns right on to Clarastrasse and travels along it past the stops of Clarastrasse and Claraplatz, before joining Greifenstrasse, passing Rheingasse and crossing the Rhine on Mittlere Brücke, before turning right on to Schifflände and left on to Marktgasse and stopping at Schifflände.
From Schifflände, the line continues along Marktgasse to Marktplatz and then along Gerbergasse and Falknerstrasse to Barfüsserplatz. From Barfüsserplatz, the line runs along Steinenberg and Aeschenvorstadt to Bankverewin. From Bankverewin, the line continues along Aeschenvorstadt to Aeschenplatz, where it turns left to join St. Alban-Anlage to Hardstrasse. From Hardstrasse, the line turns right to follow Hardstrasse, past Sevogelplatz and Grellingerstrasse to Karl Barth-Platz. From Karl Barth-Platz, the line runs along Adlerstrasse and Zeughausstrasse to Zeughaus. From Zeughaus, the line turns left and runs through a tunnel and alongside St. Jakobs-Strasse to St. Jakob. From St. Jakob, the line continues running alongside St. Jakobs-Strasse, but now further away from the road, until it leaves the road totally and crosses it on a bridge to Freidorf.
From Freidorf, the line runs as a light railway, seperate from the roads, initially alongside Höhlebachweb, past Käppeli and then alongside Tramstrasse to Zum Park. From Zum Park, the line continues alongside Tramstrasse, past Schützenstrasse and Muttenz Dorf, before running alongside Obrechtstrasse to Rothausstrasse. From Rothausstrasse, the line continues running alongside Lachmattstrasse, past the turning loop at the unused stop of Wartenberg Schlaufe. The line then runs across country to Lachmatt, from where it runs alongside Muttenzerstrasse to Kästeli and then alongside Baslerstrasse, past Gempenstrasse and Bahnhofstrasse to the terminus at Schlossstrasse.
