Tram line 10 in Basel
Line 10 in Basel is a light railway line runs from Rodersdorf Station, in Kanton Solothurn, south west of Basel in to the city and then out again to Dornach Bahnhof in Kanton Basel-Landschaft to the south of the city. The line is operated by Baselland Transport AG (BLT). The entire journey takes about 62 minutes and there is a tram every half an hour during the day and every 15 minutes between 6am and 9am and 4pm and 9pm on weekdays.
From the terminus at Rodersdorf Station, the line initially runs alongside Stockackerstrasse in a northerly direction, to the edge of the town. The line continues across country and soon crosses the Swiss/French border and heads for Leymen Station, which is located in France. From Leymen Station, the line heads east, continuing through the rural landscape, until it eventually turns south and crosses back into Switzerland and the stop at Flüh Bahnhof. From Flüh Bahnhof, the line heads east, stopping at stations including Bättwil Dorf, until it crosses into Kanton Basel-Landschaft and after stopping at Ettingen Bahnhof, turns northwards and runs alongside Therwilerstrasse, Ettingerstrasse and Känelmattwegg until it reaches Therwil Zentrum.
From Therwil Zentrum, the line continues northwards, alongside Ebnetstrasse, past the Baselland Transport AG headquarters at Hüslimatt to Oberwil Zentrum. From Oberwil Zentrum, the line heads northeast, past Stallen, before turning more mortherly just before Schloss. The line continues north, running alongside Baslerstrasse and Bottmingerstrasse, until it crosses into Kanton Basel City at Dorenbach. From Dorenbach, the line follow Binningerstrasse, running alongside Basel Zoo, until it joins the road system just before Heuwaage and runs as a traditional tram.
From Heuwaage, the line heads along Steinentorstrasse and Theaterstrasse, stopping at Theater, before turning right onto Steinberg and heading to Bankverein, from where it heads down Aeschenvortstadt to Aeschenplatz and then down Aeschengraben to Bahnhoff SBB. From Bahnhof SBB, the line turns left and runs along Peter Merian-Weg, under the station buildings to Peter Merian, before turning right on to Thiersteinerallee and then left to run alongside Münchensteinerstrasse, past MPark, until just after the Baselland Transport depot, it heads away from the road and starts running as a light railway again. Stopping at Neuewelt, Birseckstrasse and Zollweiden, the line runs alongside Baselstrasse and Hauptstrasse until it reaches Elektra Birseck.
From Elektra Birseck, the line continues south past Münchenstein Dorf and Brown Boveri to the stop at Baselstrasse, from where it continues its journey south, stopping at Im Lee, before turning west to stop at Arlesheim Dorf and Stollenrain, before turning south again for the final part of its journey to the terminus stop at Dornach Bahnhof.
