About Denmark

Denmark is officially known as the Kingdom of Denmark and is located in Scandinavia. Denmark is the southernmost of the Scandinavian countries and is bordered by Germany to the south. Denmark is also comprised of two autononomous constituent countries, the Faroe Islands and Greenland. Denmark is the 12th largest country in the world, with an area of 2,220,930km2 and the 112th most populous, with a population of 5,806,015. The capital is Copenhagen, which is also the most populous city in the country.

As can be expected for a country where the cold winters cause havoc for transport, Denmark has had relatively few tram systems, with only a handfull of cities having utilised this form of public transport. That has changed in recent years and currently 1 city tram systems,Aarhus. There are also a number of other systems in the planning stages and expansion happening to existing systems.
