Czech Republic is the 115th largest country in the world, with an area of 78,866km2 and the 84th most populous, with a population of 10,610,947. The capital is Prague, which is also the most populous city in the country.

The Czech Republic has in the past had tram systems in a number of cities throughout the country, with many tracing their routes back to horse and steam powered systems from the latter part of the 19th century. Even today, for a country of its size, the Czech Republic still has a large number of systems, with 7 cities having tram systems. Those cities are Brno, Liberec, Most-Litvínov, Olomouc, Ostrava, Plzeň and Prague
