About Bulgaria

Bulgaria is formally known as the Republic of Bulgaria and is located in Southeast Europe, bordered by Romania to the north, Serbia and North Macedonia to the west and Greece and Turkey to the south. The country has a coastline to the Black Sea to its east. Bulgaria is the 103rd largest country in the world, with an area of 110,994km2 and the 103rd most populous, with a population of 7,050,034 (2017 (estimate)). Bulgaria's capital and largest city is Sofia.

Trams in Bulgaria

The tram system in Sofia was introduced as a horse-drawn tram in 1898 and electrified in 1901. The current system in Sofia is one of the longest in Europe.
