About China

China is formally known as the People's Republic of Chinaand occupies a large part of East Asia. China is the 3rd largest country in the world, with an area of 9,596,961km2 and the most populous, with a population of 1,403,500,365 (2016 (estimate)). In the past, China had few tram systems in the distant past, with only a handful in existance in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, but a number have opened in the last decade.
