About Egypt

Egypt is officially known as the Arab Republic of Egypt and is located in northeast Africa. Egypt is bordered by the Gaza Strip and Israel to the northeast, Sudan to the south, and Libya to the west. The country also borders the Red Sea and Mediterranean. Egypt has one of the longest histories of any country, traced back to around the 6th millennia BC and its history has seen some of the earliest developments in writing, agricultura, urbanisation and central government. Egypt is the 29th largest country in the world, with an area of 1,010,408km2 and the 118th most populous, with a population of 94,798,827. The capital is Cairo, which is also the most populous city in the country.
