About Constantine

Constantine (قسنطينة in Arabic) is located in northeastern Algeria and is the capital of Constantine Province. Constantine has a population of about 450,000, making it the third largest city in the country after Algiers and Oran.

Overview of public transport in Constantine

Constantine is served by Mohamed Boudiaf International Airport, which is located about 9km south of the city. The city is also served by a train station that has connections to Annaba, Algiers, Batna and Setif. Local public transport in the city is comprised of buses and the single line tram system.

Constantine's current tram system

Constantine's modern day tramway is operated by SETRAM, which operates all of the tram systems in Algeria and also maintains them. The network's single line runs between Zouaghi Sliman to the south of the city, which is where the system's depot is located and Ben Abdelmalek Remdane, which is located in the city near the Ramadan Ben-Abdelmalek Stadium. The line was due to open in November 2011, but services actually started in July 2013. The line currently has 10 stops and a length of approximately 9km.
